Q: Hoes do AutoPots Work?
A: AutoPots are a plant watering system that uses gravity and capillary action to supply water and nutrients to plants. The System features a tray that sits above a water reservoir and a valve that controls the water level in the tray. As plants consume water, the valve opens to allow more water to flow from the reservoir into the tray. This ensures that plants always have access to the water they need without needing electricity, pumps, or timers.
Q: How big must my plant be to turn the water on for my AutoPot 1Pot?
A: When it is around 8" tall or for those squatty plants, after several sets of true leaves and growth. You want your plant to have an established root system before turning the System on. It is prone to drowning if it can't soak up enough water, as in an unestablished root system.
Q: How do I monitor my reservoir pH?
A: You can check it daily for a week or two to see how much it fluctuates. It doesn't change much if you notice over a week or two; you can adjust your monitoring accordingly.
Q: Is there an airbase for the AutoPot 1Pot?
A: Yes, there is. This will replace the need for the 1" drainage layer otherwise required in the bottom of the pot. 1Pot Systems use square AirBases.
Q: Can you use AirDomes with the AutoPot 1Pot?
A: AirDomes are compatible with all 1Pot systems and XL Systems, including the 1Pot XXL. They're great for pumping fresh oxygen into the bottom of the root mass for increased uptake and growth.
Q: Do I need a water pump in my reservoir?
A: If you're feeding nutrients through the System, you could benefit from having a water pump turn on for 15 minutes every few hours. You don't need it on full blast 24/7, but enough to keep the nutrients in solution. Otherwise, a good stir every time you check the water level or the pH would be better.
